In collaboration with the UN Information Office in Kazakhstan, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has joined the Global Model UN movement and established its flagship student-led program “The UN Model – the New Silk Road”. In May 2018, Al-Farabi KazNU has launched the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development to coordinate all teaching and research activities of researchers and teaching staff in the area of sustainable development and green economy.
In 2018, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took 10th place among the 200 universities within Eastern Europe and Central Asia according to the QS University Rankings (QS University Rankings EECA 2018). According to the results of the QS “WUR by Subject” ranking, the university entered the group of 101-150 of the best higher educational institutions in the world for the “Modern Linguistics” educational program.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has 16 schools, which offer 87 Bachelors, 98 Masters, and 83 Ph.D. educational programs in engineering, natural sciences, humanitarian and social sciences, medical sciences, and economics. Comparing to MBBS in India which is a 4.5 years course, in Kazakhstan it is of 5 years. Apart from this difference in duration, the pattern is somewhat similar to the Indian pattern. After completion applicant will be awarded an MBBS degree which is recognized globally.

Admission Criteria Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
Here are some eligibility criteria that the students have to satisfy for getting MBBS admission. It is very easy for the students to meet up the criteria.
- The age of the candidates must be 17 years or more.
- The candidates must have cleared the 10+2 examination and the student must have an aggregate of at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have English as a compulsory subject if the student is from the General category.
- Reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) students can apply with the 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; as per the guidelines by the Medical Council of India (MCI) – now NMC.
- As per the requirements of Kazakhstan universities, the candidates must qualify for NEET-UG (valid for up to 3 years). It is mandatory for the candidates to have a valid passport to study Medicine in Kazakhstan

MBBS In Kazakhstan After NExT Exam
Earlier, students who completed their MBBS studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and want to practice medicine in India had to qualify for the Medical Council of India Screening Test or FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination). However, the screening test is expected to be replaced by the National Exit Test (NExT). NExT will be a common exit exam that would serve as a Licentiate Exam for Indian students, as an entrance test to Post Graduate (PG) medical course and as a screening test of foreign medical graduates. Thus, it will also be a common gateway to attain a license to practice medicine across India.
